Maxi Banegas Route

Who is Maxi Banegas?

Maximina Banegas Carbonell was born on September 15, 1923 She grew up in her father’s barbershop on Monóvar Street, in a humble family environment that was nevertheless cultured and surrounded by press and books, which encouraged her education and imagination.

Despite the difficult years experienced during the Civil War and the post-war period, the family’s sacrifice and desire for self-improvement bore fruit on September 29, 1951, when she obtained her primary school teaching degree.  She practiced her profession in Bacares (Almería), Monóvar, various districts of Pinoso, and finally at the San Antón School, where she remained until her retirement in 1999.

She passed away on March 27, 2002, after a life spent always by the side of her beloved sister, Conchi.
